Upcoming ASEM Hosting will Showcase Cambodia to the World

Phnom Penh: The Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Commerce, Samheng Bora says that with Cambodia hosting the first Asia-Europe Economic and Business Forum will not only prove the kingdom’s capacity to organise international gathering, but could also impress the world. Bora who is also the Chairperson of the Secretariat of the Asia-Europe Economic and Business Forum working group has highlighted that Cambodia is an important player for global development.

Bora has added that while the world is battling against the Covid-19 pandemic, Cambodia is a safe country wherein the COVID-19 is well contained and it will attract more international tourists to the country. The Royal Government, especially the Ministry of Tourism together with private sectors have been working hard together to prepare the reopening of the country’s tourism. The reopening is foreseen to happen in November, yet rigorous assessments have been conducted to prioritise the safety of the public and the country as a whole against the deadly coronavirus.

The firs Asia-Europe Economic and Business Forum is a side event of the 13th Asia-Europe Meeting or ASEM Summit that Cambodia will host in late November this year. It it expected that the economic and business forum will tackle trade to boost global economy for the recovery from the COVID-19 crisis as well as green trade in the context of Industrial Revolution 4.0. In addition, the 13th ASEM Summit will also have talks about the Asia-Europe Forum on Women, Peace and Security, the 11th Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership Meeting, ASEM Cultural Festival, ASEF Young Leaders Summit, and the 10th ASEF Editors' Roundtable).
